sioux city LOVE STORY

allie + kyle

If you ask Allie how she met Kyle, she will smile and tell you it all started on what was technically someone else’s date. Their best friends were dating, now engaged, and they just tagged along to play cornhole at Bodega in Sioux City. By the end of the night, something felt different.

That was August 2019. A month later, Kyle and Allie made it official, building their relationship around shared values, rounds of golf, and plenty of time with friends and their furry companions.

By 2021, forever was already part of the conversation. “We started casually ring shopping at Gunderson’s just to get ideas,” Allie admits. “I’m a little picky when it comes to jewelry.” Kyle, however, had his own plans in motion.

On Labor Day weekend at his parents’ Big Stone lake home, after finishing a round at the Ortonville course, Allie’s parents casually mentioned a fundraising challenge on the course. They carted out to check a tiny box Allie assumed was for sign ups. It wasn’t. Kyle, nervous and excited, told her she was the GOAT and proposed right there on the fairway. When they arrived back at the lake house, their entire family was waiting to celebrate.

Planning began with Allie’s signature enthusiasm, though she laughs that her early ideas were a bit ambitious. Once they narrowed down their non negotiables and set a budget, everything fell into place quickly. The Warrior Hotel in Sioux City was an instant yes, and coordinator Madison Shanks made the process smooth from start to finish. Kyle showed up for every venue tour, sealed every envelope, and volunteered enthusiastically for the food tastings.

Their wedding day showcased their love of concerts and high energy celebrations. After an emotional first look and ceremony, guests were greeted with espresso martinis and old fashioneds at the altar, setting the tone for the night. But the reception was where the party truly came alive. A live band was a must have for the couple. They wanted a show, not just background music. The dance floor stayed full all night with “Mr. Brightside” fueling one of the most unforgettable moments of the celebration.

Looking back at everything, from the lake proposal to the packed dance floor, Allie says, “We truly soaked in every moment. It goes by fast, but when you’re really in it, it’s unforgettable.”
